Applied Design
Applied design is the application of craft to conceptual visualization.

My design skills enable me to solve problems involving the marriage of form and function. I especially enjoy meeting with clients and helping them find design solutions that match their unique needs, lifestyles and dreams. My experiences in a broad range of materials (such as metals, wood, plaster, concrete, and stone) and processes enables to me translate concepts into a diverse sculptural language. Furniture by Rob Licht

My furniture typically incorporates elements of wood and steel. I prefer to use wood species indigenous to the region such as black walnut, cherry or maple. Sometimes I prefer hand hewn slabs over machine surfaced wood. My esthetic has been described as elegantly rustic; that is I develop clean lines and graceful curves yet avoid an overly polished or mechanically refined look.

My works reflect an affinity for the human form and retain a tactile sensibility that lures the touch of the hand. All of pieces retain this sculptural sensibility while addressing the primary function of serving the specific user.
